Hi,
Just a really quick stupid question. Ive got a few american schematics that I want to be able to build and use in the UK. What changes will I have to make to the circuit?

Thanks all.

Is the circuit that you are building an AC or DC based circuit?

The UK voltage system is 230V @ 50hz, as opposed to US 120V @ 60hz. IF your circuit is a DC based Circuit, then you will have to build (or find) a DC converter for UK standards. (230Vin to XXVDC out).

If you build it yourself, (using same methodology as US DC converters, but components for different voltage levels) you should be able to purchase the correct connectors online, also.

It is AC based. Is there any way around fitting a cumbersome stepdown transformer in it? I.e, changing the values of all the components in the schematic so it will work in the UK?

Thanks,

Hi,

If it uses an input transformer, check to see if it's not a dual-primary type. If so, connect the primary windings in series vice parallel, and you're good to go. Otherwise, substitute a UK transformer with an equivalent secondary output.
