I need to attach 21 little cables to these connectors. Soldering does not work; the surface repels the solder. I suspect that some crimpable pins are needed. But which ones? There are a million different pins one can buy... Can somebody advise me?

Welcome to AAC!
How much soldering experience do you have? Soldering works for me. If you're having problems, try leaded solder and tin the contacts before trying to attach wires.

I am terrible at soldering! I managed to make one such connector by soldering, but it was a major pain. I am wondering whether pins and crimps may be the more appropriate way.

Thanks Hymie. That's a very clever suggestion indeed! However, I intend to use some of the wires for powering LED strips, and the current will be substantial. I therefore need at least 0.5 mm2 wires. I would be wary of thin AV cables for that purpose.

hi aag.
Buy some solder flux paste, apply a little paste to the pins, then solder tin the pins using a 60Watt soldering iron.
Thoroughly clean off any residual flux from the pins, then solder on the wires.
