Hi - I bought this sauna online and am looking to get it connected - the document says that it’s 110 single phase but upon inspecting it looks like 3 phase wired in parallel. I would rather run it off of a 220v 30am breaker I have for a garage ac unit I don’t use so I can avoid running a 4ga wire from the panel - is this possible ?

Since you apparently don't know what is required and dealing with lethal voltages, I would recommend hiring a certified installer or electrician.

still would like an understanding of what is going on here
It should all be in the manual that came with it. You need to make sure the wiring and connectors are rated for the Amperes that the heater pulls. It should just be a package unit with the controls already installed or easy to do so and only need a power connection. But make sure the power connection is properly rated. And Welcome to AAC!

Note that it is against the terms and conditions here to deal with mains power directly.

Thanks Samr - yeah it’s pretty easy to hook up normally. In my infinite wisdom of hacking low volt circuits, I thought I’d play with fire, thanks for the quick response and walking me off the ledge.

Based on the photograph there are six 120 volt heaters.
You can rewire that for groups of two in series and connect them across your 240 volt circuit. But be aware that there will not be a neutral conductor involved and so avoid having a white wire. Color it red with a felt marker. That is based on yu using standard electrical cable with one white and one black, and both connected to separate breaker terminals.

hi,
As this heater is being used in a Sauna environment.
I would support post #2, hire a qualified electrician to do this conversion, do not attempt to do the conversion yourself.

The assertion that others are just not qualified is obnoxious! Why always claim that outsider are far more qualified??? Keep in mind, also, that they are exclusively in the business to make lots of money and so everything gets done as fast as possible with the minimum possible effort expended. Consider also that the TS has already done electrical wiring and is comfortable in the mains panel.

hi,
I would have thought that you would have figured it out, that as he asking on a Forum on how to connect mains wiring, he is obviously is not qualified.

I did not suggest he use an 'outsider' to do the work, I said a 'qualified' electrician.

I would rather be considered as obnoxious as opposed to irresponsible.

Did you read the TS's posts.??

I’ll just run 110v to it, still would like an understanding of what is going on here.
