Hi,

My question is similar but I don't have the frequency. I'm given the rectangular coordinates of an RL series circuit which is: 15+j12.56.

I understand that XL = 12.56 and that the formula for XL = (2pi)F(L). I also understand the mechanics of how to perform the calculations. I just don't know how to find the frequency when I'm not given time or omega.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi,

I assume you want to get the frequency from the complex impedance.

Do you know how to calculate the complex impedance of an RL series circuit?
Do you know that w=2*pi*f where f is the frequency?

If so, then you can calculate first 'w' and then the frequency, because:
Z=R+j*w*L

See if you can solve this now.
