Hello,

To avoid spam , we have made some restrictions to the new members.
These are as followed:
The new member has a limited time to edit his post of 10 minutes.
The new member can not delete posts or threads.
The new member can not start a conversation (PM), but can respond to a conversation (PM) started by a senior member.
The new member has no ability to make a signature.

The restrictions will be lifted when the postcount reaches 10 posts.
(Posts made in the Off-Topic forum do not count).

Is this rule still enforced? There seem to be a lot of new members starting new threads and posting questions as their first post.

There's NO restrictions on new members starting threads or posting questions.

Most members join for the specific purpose of asking a question because they came upon AAC while searching for an answer to something.

I realize this thread is from several years ago, but I just noticed it.
@bertus' post says a new member cannot start a "conversation". I mis-read the phrase. I realize now that "conversation means messaging on this site. Thanks.
