Relay wiring- microcontroller- is this correct??

I am current working on a relay circuit for my basic stamp microcontroller which will drive a 24V DC motor (I measured 1A-2A) forward or reverse. A limit switch is built into the motor and not shown on the schematic.

My circuit is for a 24V application and I am using two 12V lawnmower batteries. I thought about also adding 3A fuses on both sides of the transistors.

Is this the best/ simplest approach? Should I add the fuses? Should I use a separate battery to operate the relay? I there anything else I need to add to prevent damage to the microcontroller?

Please see attached pdf file with the schematic and componet specs.

I am new to microcontrollers (basic stamp) and any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

thank you.
