Apologies for these simple questions, but

1. What is this relay called?

2. is this relay rated as amps per pin, or total amps? Is say a 30A relay rated a 2 x 30A or 2 x 15A?

Hi tal mann,

It's an automotive relay, going by the terminal numbering. It may be referred to as an 'SPST' or '1 NO contact' relay.

Terminal 30 would be connected to the +ve terminal of the battery and the terminals 87 to two loads. Should this relay be rated for 30A, then the sum of the two loads connected to the 87 terminals could total 30A (for example, 15A+15A).

Regards,

Nandu.

That DWG in the OP as suggested indicates an automotive relay.
But To answer the title question.
For relays in general, there is a AC, HP and DC rating for each contact.
The current rating for each purpose varies. ;)
