reduce gain for transistor

to reduce gain for transistor we put resistor between base and emitter can someone help me what the effect of R that it lower the gain

I'll give you a hint: bipolar transistors' output current (collector-emitter junction) is proportional to the current flowing through the input (base-emitter junction). So if you place a resistor parallel to the input...

Such a resistor reduces the current gain, but does not stabilise it. For this we normally apply negative feedback.

@ vrainom: Is that nickname in line with the recent Google+ ruling?
