reactive power 4-quadrant analogy

Hello Everyone,

We would like to update the reactive power measurements which we are doing in our system.
Presently we are measuring reacive power by using the following formula,which is applied on instantanious voltage and current waveforms:
Q = 1/sqrt(3) * ((Vb - Va)*Ia + (Vc - Va)*Ib + (Va - Vb)*Ic)
The above Q can be positive or negitive,so it can be viewd as inductive or capacitive reactive power.

As per new requirments we would like to view reactive power as a 4 quandrant system,which is done in new energy meters(IEC 62053-23).
How to i go about this process?How to i split the reactive power into their respective quadrants?

Any starting points would be helpfull!!

Thanks for the links.
I have managed to get it reading on a PIC32 MCU,Going to compare it with a calibrated energy meter for checking accuracy.

Thanks
