All circuit boards in the photos show corrosion in many spots away from the battery.
The corrosion was caused by external salt water (?) not internal battery chemicals that do not normally corrode the inside of the battery's metal case, then why corrode the outside?
Maybe the batteries are leaking because they have been dead for years?

Consider the vast spread in quality levels between the different manufacturers of these batteries! I Some of them are very poor, probably a few are totally counterfeit and made with faked materials and even different chemistries.
