yes i am storing it long term for years but if it doesn't leak i would keep it on the pcb and not open the devices but i don't know if it leaks or not

If you are storing it for long term the battery will be dead and will need replacing anyway.
Remove the battery now.

 

Do all these photos of google indicate a CR2032 leak? I don't have the experience to figure it out

I am impressed.

 

All circuit boards in the photos show corrosion in many spots away from the battery.
The corrosion was caused by external salt water (?) not internal battery chemicals that do not normally corrode the inside of the battery's metal case, then why corrode the outside?
Maybe the batteries are leaking because they have been dead for years?

 

Consider the vast spread in quality levels between the different manufacturers of these batteries! I Some of them are very poor, probably a few are totally counterfeit and made with faked materials and even different chemistries.
