queries regarding choosing a correct sensor

hii i am a newbie here!!!! need to choose a correct sensor for distance measurement project...my project is about measuring the distance of a target object both horizontally and vertically for a range of about 10 to 30 meters or above...so can u suggest a RF sensor with the mentioned range ....and im not using ultrasonic and laser....do suggest me in RF ...and also the mention how to interface that particular sensor with a controller
