PWM to DAC question

The following post caught my eye.
I built a cct with variable pwm and frequency offered up by crutschow several months ago--thanks
I wish to feed the output of several on these to a DAC in order to achieve an audio output.

won't almost any DAC work?
Nope. No DAC will work.
A DAC takes a digital number of typically 8-bits or more and converts that to a voltage.
That's not even close to what's required to convert a PWM signal (which is a square-wave with a varying duty-cycle) to a voltage.

Hi , so what is needed circuit wise to convert a PWM to make it DAC friendly?

What's wrong with using an analog filter?
Nothing you can do will make it friendly to a standard DAC, as I noted.

But if you want a more accurate/faster conversion than an analog filter, Analog Devices has some dedicated IC's for that, as discussed here.
