PWM nomenclature and basic Laser control module control options?

Attached is a photo of a laser module from the LASER TREE LT-80W-AA and I am a little confused on the PWM nomenclature specifically the 0/5 portion of the 0/5-12v. I am assuming here it's 0-12v OR 5-12v PWM but maybe 0-5v PWM? I am definitely overthinking things. The other question is can I just introduce 8.5v(voltage divider) to get 50% power output in lieu of using an actual pwm signal of the laser to the pwm signal pin?
