Capacitor Nomenclature - Fixing Spektrum DX6 Gen 2

Hi there

Stupide me broke his Spektrum DX6 (bought in 2017) by hooking it up with the polarity reversed. This lead to some magic smoke and a few gone components. From my optical inspection I think only 3 components are gone, 2 capacitors by the looks of it and a FFC Cable with 44 pins. I've managed to find a replacement 44pin FFC. However the capacitors are more difficult.
First off the inscription on them is gone but on the circuit boards is a third one looking exactly like the other two gone ones. So I hope I can replace the gone ones with the same as the one still "living".
But googling the inscription which is 106 16K 534 didn't lead to any really helpful results. What I did find is that 106 16k leads to Tantalum capacitors. It's only the 534 I cannot place.

I would be glad if someone could tell me how the nomenclature of these capacitors works.
And if someone feels like opening his DX6 and to confirm the numbers on the capacitors, I would be really glad as well.

Thank you for your help.

Have you called Horizon Hobby? It may repair for a cost, or more likely send a refurbished in exchange for the same cost. Either way, you will have a working radio.

ArakelTheDragon and MrChips, thank you, this solves my problem with the understanding of the nomenclature.
I hope I’m now able to fix the remote.

I’ve written them an Email asking about both repair and weather they could send me the schematics of the power section of the DX6 to fix it myselfe. They obviously didn’t send me the schematics. Regarding the repair, they told me, they would fix the Remote if the costs don’t exceed half of it’s original cost (200$). If it were to exceed that amount they would give me a discount on a new DX6. But both ways aren’t feasible for me.

Having to ship the Remote from Switzerland to America would cost 50 $ one way. I assume they don’t do component level repair. And as 2 boards are now “broken” and one being the main board with the display, micro controller and SD card slot I think 100$ could be easily reached if not exceeded. And if I have to pay the shipping back to Switzerland I have to add another 50 $. So this entire transaction would cost me as much as a new remote.

As a side note, I do find it a very stupid design decision to remove both the Fuse and Diode which protected the DX6 Gen 1 from reverse polarity, according to a lot of forum posts I’ve read.

Anyway thank you for your help
