Selfishness is encouraged in our culture but those are example of very mentally ill people. :(

What the cause of their extreme selfishness and total lack of empathy is. I leave to the professionals.

Sane people have a hard time grasping such heinous crimes.

I have no idea if it's relevant to these particular cases but I'm appalled at the silence regarding the majority of mass killings and what they all have in common - antidepressants. Before the victims are even named, the press always zeroes in on what weapons were involved and other useless, non-actionable information. They rarely say a word about what drugs these monsters were on, and there's never the drumbeat to outlaw those drugs that made them crazy, only the weapon they used when they finally broke.

It's not so much just the drugs it's the combination of drugs and culture. None of the mass school shootings were junkies too far gone. What we demand from our children is far more extensive than was asked of us....It just was more hard work and less. (Know everything and by that I mean EVERYTHING)

Edit: And it's competition on futuristic steroids now a days.

I've no problem grasping that some people are actually evil.

My problem, especially as an atheist, is trying to understand how otherwise sane and good people can be overcome with evil instantaneously and with no prior warning -- with devastating effects.

This has happened in my own family. The lack of explanation, scientifically- or medically-wise, drives me nuts.

People are not taught about evil anymore. Right and wrong are considered bigoted artifacts from ignorant tribalism.

Standards are a bigot's tool.

Yeah speak for yourself on that one.

Which explains why half of the millenniums think socialism is a good thing.
Like I've been saying from the start it's a cultural thing that we need to contain in exile that is[ censored] Because they might make you work for them but not vice versa.

Kids! Never surrender to people like Joey when it comes to employment. You'll thank me further down the road.

I think the sense of right and wrong, the sense of decency......is what humans have in common. We can be different in many ways...be if that remains common we are ok.

If that gets out of kilter...war will come. It always comes. A time of no right and wrong and no decency.......Then it becomes a war to restore decency.

The first half of war is fought to the confirm the death of decency...make sure none is left. It sick-in's all. Then the second half is fought to restore the decency we killed.

It must cycle. Or it has cycled.....we'll see.

A lot of it comes from what is taught or allowed to be, the administrators within the education system. Not teachers per-say but admins who have been guiding the system and selling out the educational system for years.

I'm not sure about what you deal with in your country or culture. Much different when your dealing with people who come into your country with drugs and those who want to profit from them, drug companies included. Right now I see America a lot like China at the mercy of England bringing in Opium by the ton to exploit our country.

Somewhere along the lines people will and are taking sides, some along the sides of reason, others along the side of Chaos. What happens here will reverberate around the world and back again.

Yesterday I got a glimpse of how it happens.

I had to deal with a simple IRS issue. To get the information I needed to move forward, I had to make 4 calls to the same IRS call center. Each required going through the automated system, in two languages, making a total of maybe 7 choices each time to get into the right queue. Each queue took about 30 minutes of mind-crushing elevator music - just one 'song' of about one minute length repeated over and over. And over.

The first rep was apparently impatient with me and hung up while I was in the middle of a question. The second couldn't find a form in my file and required me to fax it to them again. (The IRS doesn't do email). I was actually able to do the faxing using an online fax service (pdf to fax) while the IRS held on the line. It took a good 10 minutes, so I was impressed with his patience. As soon as the form arrived, I was informed that a few fields were not properly entered. They were done according to the instructions, but apparently the instructions are incomplete. Hang up and try again.

I don't even remember the details towards the end but two calls later I was told to just resend the original return and the check and it would all be fine. We'll see.

If I had reached another dead end after all that, I would have been primed to go postal. This was over nothing, just stupid paperwork. When important things go south – jobs, relationships, health – people can be driven past their ability to cope. But it takes more than even that to turn violent, and I think it's that final switch that is hard for us to comprehend. Some brain chemical soup gets made by stirring together anger, despair and rage.

We have a similar problem just on a smaller scale. However the ones that finance the drugs smuggled are all up top businessmen. (Here you can't really be a flashy gangster and get away with it so you must roll under the radar)

Looking out for number one, is the poison.
