If you look at MOSFET and microprocessor manufacturers’ websites (Infineon and Texas come to mind) you will probably find some good application notes.

Read this:
They never actually made it:
”The second goal, to produce a 120 volt RMS sine wave with the capability of providing 250 watts of power was not actually tested, but the team is confident in its ability to produce this waveform. Using parts in the driver portion of the circuit that are rated for at least twice the operating parameters, 170 volts and 2 amps, the team can be assured that these devices will work with the same functionality as they do at 12 volts. At 12 volts powering, the HBridge output is a clean 60 Hz sine wave that can easily be controlled in size by the size of the sine reference in the control circuit. It is in this capability that the option of a closed loop control circuit could be implemented.”

They only tried it at 12V, not at 120V, and there is no mention how they made their 170V DC supply, and there was a team of three of them supervised by a professor.

We studied Power electronics by Harun ur Rashid. Power inverter was covered in that book as far as I can remember.

They only tried it at 12V, not at 120V, and there is no mention how they made their 170V DC supply, and there was a team of three of them supervised by a professor.
Main professor's goal was maintenance equality numbers of students before and after this work.
12 V voltage limit saves their lives.

Yes. As far as I can remember, we studied the third edition. That had a different cover. The pdf is available at academia
