...and complaining that people are ungrateful.
Some see it as complaining while others see it as seeking a discussion towards finding viable solution in order to correct a well observed problem.

Usually those who see something as"whining" tend to be the ones who are part of a related problem and do not want a solution to be found because they know it will require them to make personal connections to their general actions.

...and threatening to ban them if they are ungrateful.
It's not about their GRATITUDE but their ATTITUDE. Same with who does the banning. Is it over the offender's actions or that the person, who has authority, wants to force their views on someone else because they simply can without repercussion coming back to them even if they were wrong doing it?

Once we start threatening to ban people, we'll get people as "grateful" as Trumps staff...
And one more concept that is not as simple of concept as you apparently wish to make it look. It's about getting everyone on the same page and defining the rules that both sides play by for the greater good of the system and players at hand. A mutual cooperation toward an agreed to and set upon goal that does not favor one side more than the other.

Simply put, not all interactions in life can be distilled down to a simple binary outcome. Show a bad attitude when it's unwarranted or show a lack of gratitude for a kind and fair action and there should be some degree of ramification you receive, if the person or group dealing with you sees fit, whether it be baning you or simply the person or group no longer offering you help since you show nothing of good will in return for their actions.

It's about the continual upkeep and enforcement the unspoken laws of social interaction and to what limit offences of them go before moving into the territory of the written laws and their enforcements.

BTW, I saw no "forced gratitude" in that video. I saw people who are grateful for having the chance to work where they work on what they are doing because their jobs could have been given to someone else.

As long as nobody behaves differently than you want, we'll all be fine, is that it?

I'm here to listen to interesting problems. Then, when I find them interesting, I contribute. If I let every little pissant in my life bother me if they don't behave as I wish, I wouldn't bother getting out of bed. Control your own life, not other people's lives.

greater good of the system
Tcmtech I was 100% with you until I saw that then I had to stop cuz it makes my skin crawl:eek:!

So as one of your _fans_ I'm begging u to find another way of saying ingrates need to be sanctioned for good of sincere users! Cuz there's no such thing as _greater good_! Cuz collectives and all mobs are just totally dehumanizing evil!

Gophert you know I like you and enjoy reading and learning from a lot of ur posts:)! But I don't understand why you sometimes like to throw bombs by deliberately twisting other ppl's posts around:confused:! The topic is overtly rude ingrates! It's not that complicated:rolleyes:

So anyhow I voted no too cuz IMO banning them is totally playing their game cuz it can make them martyrs and anyhow when they return under new UNs we have to go through their BS all over again:rolleyes:

The solution is simple. Don't interact with ungrateful people. You set your standard for someone being ungrateful. Once that threshold is met, take appropriate action (stop your interaction.) Case closed.
JoeJester ur right! But my problem is that I keep hoping they'll change or that being patient with them will change themo_O:oops:

A great organization has people that are so good that the leader is greatful to have such a staff. I've never seen an organization where everyone is grateful someone else wasnt selected. If they are all so grateful, they apparently know they are not the right people for the job.

That is exactly one of the bullet points in my life's philosophy.

Not really. Most who have self respect and dignity will work a job with honor and show gratitude for having the job. Also if the job is an elected or assigned one who is more qualified was decided by the voters or the assignee which thusly makes all who lost the election by whatever process was used the ones who were seen as not qualified enough by enough people to get the job.

So given that obviously the last people who were in the office were not seen as qualified enough being they were tossed out and replaced who whom is there now. Your personal opinion of what you think of them is as irrelevant as any other pissants views. Especially if your people you wanted lost!

I disagree on the semantics of the definition of greater good since where I come from that term generally refers to upholding the better end of the unwritten social rule standards of civility and respect for each other through both the unspoken social rules and written law as well.

If there was no common high ground/greater good protocols/standards in place we could all do what we want when we want to whom we want and no one could say anything about it but the fact is there's a greater social standard we all have to adhere to or pay a price for, but obviously we can't because some form of social standards tell us not to even if there is no written law that may apply. Sort of the fact that for most people they don't need a written law to tell them not to kill other people for no justifiable reason (defensive acts for instance would be a justifiable allowance) because just not killing people at random, for no justifiable reason byeong personal want, serves a greater good for both themselve and the society they are in.

You may phrase it differently but in my books that upholding the standard of a greater good for the civility, function and general well being of the community over ones individual wants and wishes that could otherwise bring the downfall of the society, depending on what they were, due to selfishness and the chaos it would produce.

The very problem our society is fighting right now where certain people think their wants, that have no well defined written law to says they should not do the things they are wanting to do now in pushing every absurd concept and claim they can imagine, for no greater good gains to the overall community because the overall community's stand, up until now on those topics, were they all were part of the unwritten greater good type social standards of acceptable behavior everyone followed.

Same fallacy I have too but I am working to overcome it by accepting that some people are just shallow, hateful, ignorant and just all around poor examples of what a good respectable intelligent human being should be. :(

They love living in their little life bubble they have filled with all the hate, ignorance, and delusions of what reality really is they can muster and no one can change that for them. They are lost and happy to be that way so the best thing you can do is just let them live in their little world and think their tiny shallow hate filled disjointed thoughts until it destroys them from the inside. It's what they want more than anything so let them have it onto themsleves. ;)

(Not a political statement, just an example of "forced gratefulness")
How fun it would be to have an AAC “forced gratefulness” day. @GopherT , I am so grateful you chose to enlighten us with your brilliant words and thoughts! You too, @tcmtech , and everyone else. As they say in the great LEGO movie song, “everything is awesome!”

The whole song is awesome!

Everything is awesome,
everything is cool when your part of a team

Everything is awesome,
when you're living out a dream

Everything is better when we stick together
Some have said you and I are gonna win forever…
