I looked in my parts supply and discovered while I have many BJT transistors ... I only have one JFET ... a 2N5484 N-Channel JFET.
Amazon has some good deals on BJT transistor kits but I see nothing on JFET's except a package of 10 J310 FET's for $7.
I started looking because I wanted to add a voltage controlled variable resistance to a circuit.
Regardless of this particular application ...

Please suggest some common JFET's I should have in my parts inventory for various DIY projects...
And any good sources or deals for JFET Kit's or whatever.

MPF102 for JFET and 2N7000 for MOSFET.

 

JFETs are seldom used anymore, and they have a very non-linear resistance change vs. Vgs, with the resistance only being linear for a small Vds voltage deviation.

J108 to J113 for N-channel, J175 to J177 for P-channel
If you want one for low-noise audio then try 2SK3557, and you can get noise figures below 1dB.
