Please Help with switch power supply circuit

Hello There, I have a question about my circuit as I don’t wanna burn my house down. Basically I bought a 5V 40A switch power supply. The fan I’m operating of it is a 12V, therefore, the fan spins too slow for my liking. However, I read that if you put the wires in series it will make I 10V. Will connecting + and - on my power supply not break it? Looking at the photo image and the information you have posted, I would say that there is only one +5V output.

All the +V are connected together and the -V are also connected together.

ie: -V, -V, -V, are common and the +V,+V,+V are common.
Do you have a volt meter to check the connections?

Checking the Amazon page confirms only one +5V output

Sorry I don’t have a meter to check. So if I connect v- to v+ and use the corresponding v- and v+ this won’t give me 10v since they are common and will break my supply? How would I get above 5V since the fan I connected it to is running to slow is there a way to do this? Thank you

Thank you this has helped me a lot didn’t realise, good i didn’t connect the power supply like I wanted to, I have one more concern, my power supply current is 40A and the step up wire says is a max of 1A will this not create a fire hazard ? I couldn’t find a step up converter for this high current or will it work fine, thank you again EricGibbs

The 5v to 12v converter will only draw the maximum 1 Amp current it needs from the 5V 40A supply.
Why did you buy a 40Amp power supply, that's a lot of possible current for general electronic use.
A 5V at say 5Amp or 10Amp would be typical.

I’m learning, I read on the internet that more current means more efficiency, 40 amps will not drain more electricity right since so much isn’t being used? Also regarding the module you sent me, it is rated for 10W maximum I need adleast 120W as my fan is rated at that. So how would I connect the USB port to my dc supply as I assume that’s where the converter is located, and the other male end I would just strip off I guess, thank you again

so if I strip the male end of the female to male usb connector and connect that to the dc supply and then use the wire u sent me connect that into the female port and stip the male connector of that and connect it to my fan that should work at 120W right? Hello I double checked it’s rated at 100w but that’s a tdp value I don’t really know what that means, also at the product information there is a different value I’m pretty confused but I recon 100w sound about right. So I need to find a converter that will supply me with 10 Amps? Right?

Thank you for sending the module link, would this one work too as this one has higher amps 12 * 8 = 96 W 4 watts less than needed will that cause any issues ?

EDIT: will this need cooling as it saying on the module and this module that it heats up at higher amps?

If your Fan is 100 Watts at 12Vdc, then you need a converter with an output of 12V at 10 Amps.

What are you using a 100 Watt fan for.?

Thank you , so will the extra 20 w be not used similar to the amps. Im making a custom cooling rig for my cpu
