I am working on a project where I have my electronic operation on a device, but need to also display some information on screen(not confirmed the size). This is not GUI as such but informative screen(Client might want display informative data e.g venue data, or advert etc). I am thinking about using a standard interface such as HDMI, so I can use a standard monitors.

Would my best solution be a Raspberry Pi?

 

What you are describing sounds like a digital sign. The RPi is very popular in the open source digital signage community. This article might be helpful in deciding if it fulfills your requirements.

If this is referring to a digital signage system, then yes—some sort of content management (including things like scheduling and emergency messages) is part of it.
