An interesting video describing a whole family of new timing IC's.
LT699x Series Timing IC's
any thoughts?

Perhaps some 555 Timing competition?

The LT699x IC models are included with the free LTSpice program in the Special Functions library.
The 555 timer requires timing caps. The LT699x family does not. That eliminates a huge variable, as caps vary widely in initial value, leakage rates, and value over temperature.
These new IC's are not intended to replace the venerable 555 timer. They are intended as low-voltage-capable building blocks.
