Is America running out of electrical power?
The nation's power grid appears to be reaching critical levels due to emerging technologies
One of the main issues with these sustainability efforts is the push to move away from fossil fuels toward renewable power. Natural gas is often seen as a bridge between fossils and renewables, but this has also had unintended consequences for the power grid. The system delivering natural gas "doesn't have to meet the same reliability standards as the electric grid, and in many cases, there’s no real way to guarantee that fuel is available for the gas plants in the winter," Thomas Rutigliano of the Natural Resources Defense Council said to New Scientist.

As a result, the "North American electricity supply has become practically inseparable from the natural gas supply chain," John Moura of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation said to New Scientist. As such, a "reliable electricity supply that lowers the risk of power outages depends on implementing reliability standards for the natural gas industry moving forward," but this may be easier said than done.
I blame a lot of this on the antinuclear movement. If they hadn't blocked nuclear energy for 50 years we would be a hell of alot better now with the energy supply and climate change. This is one of few things the French have done right.

Of course now, they see how screwed up the movement was, and the damage it caused here and abroad in places like Germany.

Some cause far more substantial damage than others.
and others just want to continue to bury their heads in the sand even when the current debate from just about all sides is how bad, not if. I believe the way to handle climate change is one rooted in conservative ideas, not using rabid left climate activists utopian pipe dreams. We can fix this and retain our standard of living with science, technology and industry instead of just giving up because 'oil is bad' like the morons that said all nuclear is bad.

Problem is, being reactive politically fashionable nowadays ... reason and logic are soooo yesterday

Who the heck is "we"? I don't think you'll get the Chinese to participate (except to supply us with our "green" technology for a hefty price).

...I can fly.

There is no such thing anymore, at least with respect to climate or energy. Wake up.
You, don't want to believe, that's fine, it will happen without you. The Chinese will see the opportunity because they're just communist that want a viable planet to rule. We all have faith (with the help of science in this case) in something, and faith is easy have on this issue because it's so blatantly obvious serious human caused climate change has happened and will continue to happen unless we take intelligent, conservative and scientifically proven, effective countermeasures.

I can fly, with technology. Technology is what will fix this.

That would make you what?

A sycophantic fool?

Something worse?
There is a dogma that agreeing with climate science is the same as agreeing with climate activists with a IMO socialist agenda. That dogma is foolish.

This is a climate activist

I wouldn't trust her to give change at a 7/11.

This is a climate scientist.

2012 threats
In 2012, Emanuel served as keynote speaker for a conference for Republican voters concerned about climate change. Following the conference, the blog Climate Depot posted Emanuel's email address. After the conference and the exposure of Emanuel's email address on blogs, Emanuel received a large volume of emails "laced with menacing language, expletives, and personal threats of violence," according to editor James West of Mother Jones.[5]

Nuclear power views
In 2013, with other leading experts, he was co-author of an open letter to policy makers, which stated that "continued opposition to nuclear power threatens humanity's ability to avoid dangerous climate change."[6]

The vast majority of scientists agree that human activity has significantly increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere—most dramatically since the 1970s. Yet global warming skeptics and ill-informed elected officials continue to dismiss this broad scientific consensus.
In this updated edition of his authoritative book, MIT atmospheric scientist Kerry Emanuel outlines the basic science of global warming and how the current consensus has emerged. Although it is impossible to predict exactly when the most dramatic effects of global warming will be felt, he argues, we can be confident that we face real dangers. Emanuel warns that global warming will contribute to an increase in the intensity and power of hurricanes and flooding and more rapidly advancing deserts. But just as our actions have created the looming crisis, so too might they avert it. Emanuel calls for urgent action to reduce greenhouse gases and criticizes the media for downplaying the dangers of global warming (and, in search of “balance,” quoting extremists who deny its existence).

Non sequitur and argumentum ab auctoritate in one post.

You need to do better.
I'm good on this issue.

I'm on the conservative side here of saying we can fix this. I don't make these types of choices casually. I've studied the issues carefully and decided it's foolish and totally unscientific to be a climate change denier or even a "climate skeptic".
