well I missed a day of school and now I'm stuck and getting frustrated at this seemingly easy question. What is giving me problems is the series segment...

120Vac 60Hz
An inductor and capacitor in parallel
Inductor XL is 62.5 ohms plus resistance of 36.2 ohms
Capacitor XC is 180 ohms

I total is 1.13 but I get nothing close

thx

maybe i don't know how to use the calculator, sharp el-520w??

when I add the phasors
I of inductor is 1.661@60deg
I of cap is 0.667@90deg

I get 2.26@68deg
the answer Itotal is half of this 2.23 soooooo any ideas?

Take a look at this material in the AAC ebook on complex number math.

Use the technique/formula of calculating parallel components.

Post your work so that we can see where you are hitting your snag.
