Ya' gotta wonder how different the search Google search results were for "115 pound" vs other weights, "woman" vs "person" or "man"

Going from scammer to murdering and dismembering are two different levels - there may even be 10 to 15 levels in between those categories.
Also, what was she to tell the judge if the scam was their only source of family income?
You put far too much faith in the separation of levels of evil. If she decided to leave him, take him to the bank and maybe rat on him, the choice of murdering enters the reptile (non-literal) part of your brain in an instant. In the brain of a long-term scamming criminal, the reptile part of your brain is what is in control most of the time.

Stupid.
"Many of his statements, however, were “untruthful,” police alleged in an affidavit"

First rule, Never Talk To The Police. This is double true if you are guilty.
But he's a stupid guy who thinks he's smart. He was going to teach the police why he wasn't guilty.

Kind of like the guy that killed the four college kids in Idaho. Getting a college degree in law inforcement and forensics, then leaving his knife sheath at the crime scene. Maybe he can get his tuition money back?
Ask him and he'll tell you he needed to drive by the scene of the crime many times to make sure the police were investigating correctly.
