How do you make a circuit, that when you push a button, the circuit comes on until the button is pushed again, at which point the circuit turns off. I dont know want to use a push button switch, but I want to understand how you can use transistors to control other parts of a circuit. Does this make sense?

What do you want to control with this switch?
Im asking so that we have some idea as to
how much current it will need to handle.

One way to do this would be to use a flip-flop.

Make sure to debounce the switch.

Thingmaker hit it dead on, My thoughts exactally. You could use those little snazzy pcb mount pushbutton switchs and make some cool buttons for it. Extremely simple circuit but would impress the crap outta your friends. =) Oh and you can use the 5v (in a perfect world) logic to drive a transistor and turn on a bigger load if you want. So the possibilities are mind boggling.
