omron h3cr-a Need Help Setting Up For Aircraft Engine Display

I'm an aircraft restorer for a Canadian Navy Aircraft museum and we have an issue with our radial engine display. Before I joined the museum, they rewired the starter motor to allow 110 vac to allow it to turn the engine for 10 seconds to show how the inner workings move, and then to stop. This allows the engine parts to stay cool as well as the starter. This was accomplished using the omron h3cr-a as a timer. Unfortunately visitors tend to restart the engine immediately after it times out and the engine starts to lag. I was tasked with trying to come up with a relay where the switch allows the engine to rotate for 10 seconds and then the switch is disabled for 30 seconds before it will be ready to turn on again. Does this timer (omron h3cr-a) have the ability to do what we want it to do? Is there a wire combination which gives us this ability? I was able to get another multifunction time relay (GRT8-M) which could either replace the previous timer, or in conjunction with the Omron timer, these could be used to prevent the engine from restarting until the 30 second delay ends. Maybe I'm overthinking this but I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. We put a sign instructing visitors not to activate the engine until 30 seconds has passed but nobody reads it. Thanks for any assistance offered.

Evidentally the GRT8 should do it, it is multi-function!
  • 【10 Functions】: GRT8-M1 delay time relay with 10 functions including delay on, delay off, cycle delay and so on. This is a multifunctional time relay and time delay can be set by panel knob.

Appreciate your confirmation that the GRT8 can do it, but also need some guidance on wiring it to the switch and motor to get it to turn on for 10 seconds followed by disabling the input voltage to prevent the motor from restarting for 30 seconds.

Need to show wiring details of present circuit and components used.
The current setup has a timer relay (Omron h3cr-a) which is set for 10 seconds after the spring loaded switch is activated. Here are the pictures of that relay. All the wiring is white and there is no schematic as this was done in 2011. I was hoping to tap into the wire with the 10 second timing to activate the new realy. Then after it times out, the new relay disables the 110 volts for 30 seconds...this will allow the starter and engine to "cool down" a little. Forgot to attach the pictures...

I believe this will work as I don't see using either timer individually will do what you want.
Is the GRT8 relay a M1 or M2 version? Post some photos and I will post a wiring diagram using both relays

Wow...thanks man. It is the M1 and I've attached the manual that came with it. I suspected that to have the function I needed, I would require both timers. So thankful for the assistance.

Wiring diagram below as I see it working.
The H3CR will be in the.... OFF DELAY.... mode and the...TIME.... range selector set for.... MINUTES.
Set the Dial to 1 minute.
The GRT8 M1 will be in the....ON DELAY.... mode "A" and the time set for 10 seconds.
When the Start switch is pressed on the H3CR a 1 minute timer starts which applies power to the GRT8 relay and the motor through the Normally Closed contacts of the GRT8.
After 10 seconds has elapsed the GRT8 relay will activate disconnecting power to the motor.
After another 40 seconds has passed the H3CR will time out and ready to receive another Start signal.

Wow...thanks so much for helping with this. I will be at the museum for our regular volunteer morning and will begin working on this. Once done, I will let you know how it works and even send a video (if allowed) on the engine display doing it's thing. Much appreciated man.
