I don't know what you mean when you say "take off the primary". A transformer will not work without a primary winding.
All you need top do is remove the purple wire that you have shorting live and neutral. (The terminals marked 0 and 230V.) I suggest that you just cut the ends of the purple wire as if you try to unsolder them you will probably break the wires from the ends of the primary winding. You would not normally solder your wires to that end of the tags.
You normally only connect to the ends of the tags where you have connected the blue and brown wires.
