Not sure what you mean, are you refering to the smoothness of the sweep? My first thought is a bypass capacitor, My second is something like this for reset...

Hi Bill

The sweep is perfect. It's the 'initial condition' I think needs addressing. Your schematic looks familiar. Basically it resets the unit such that the cycle starts at the beginning IE U2 Pin 3 is first to fire up...........Having looked at the schematic I guess I would need a reset on each 4017??

Cheers!

That reset can handle all of them. It is basically a power up reset. I'm not sure that's what you need, but I took the chance.

Hi Bill

Here is my attempt to fit the reset at start cap and resistor. With this fitted could I do away with the reset lines between the 4017's? That is except the last one which sets the end of cycle U5 pin 10 to U2 Pin 15. Or is it fitted with the existing reset lines in place?

I received the 3 Hyper bright Green LED's today :D . Rapidonline certainly do me proud! So the missing module is now built and installed in it's position and the whole unit is now complete. Sunday 30th August is install day :D

I will of course get a video of it working in situ!

Hi Bill

I haven't actually fitted it. The unit 'rights' itself as it stands. It was more of a technical question on my part. I was aware of the 'reset at start' but wasn't sure how it was implemented. I will be playing with more 4017's, I ordered loads :D , on my breadboard for further education and will add the 'reset' to the circuit to see how it works. I feel more cascading circuits happening :D. The corner shop proprietor has expressed an interest in a Blue LED chaser light for under his car, all around the edge. We will see if anything comes of that.
