New "Analogue" Project

I suggested the simplest way much earlier, since it is a kid toy, no electronics needed. Just a contact surface with gaps for the stop points. I may have to break down and try to draw a picture. And then somehow show it to the camera on this computer and somehow save it ad attach it. But I am so very much a text only person so that may be a pain.
The control would be with a wiper contacting a disk with insulating spots where it should stop. I see the picture very clearly but it seems nobody else can visualize.

Thanks.
That type of motor was my first thought as well thus eliminating the 555.
I configured the circuit based on the thoughts of the TS using a servo which isn't really necessary.

As I always say to youse guys and gals...someone always comes up with a lovely circuit!! Ill be back with it in a bit, when I get some aps117000 units!!

The challenge I see is if the motor takes too long to stop moving, the hand could move past the desired stop location, and keep going. Worst case you could make an electric brake circuit, like cordless drills have, that will stop it more or less instantly when the input signal goes away. But hopefully the worm drive motor will stop fast enough as-is. I'm not sure how quickly a continuous turn servo would stop when the power is removed, but that could potentially be another solution. Anyway, neat project, it will be interesting to see how it works.

I figure the motor will turn in a clockwise rotation thus placing the sensors just before the required positions to handle any overshoot.
For the record, I think you're on the right path. My thought wasn't doubt that this would work, just taking a guess at where some tuning might be necessary. My thought was more along the lines of the overshoot causing the magnet to pass the sensor, allowing the motor to start back up. Hopefully you'll post a little video of it working when it's done!

The point is specific in that the TS was searching for a product scheme to be used in a toy. I guessed that this was for a product, not a one-off hobby project. THAT was the basis for the comment.
Thank you for the response. This is truly a one off application for my own use
