I didn't run the fan extensively so I don't exactly recall the fan having a slight wobble to it. And after putting the clip I didn't pay attention to wobble. So, yeah, maybe that's the real explanation. Whatever the scenario - I have a happy client.

Well, now it's on to rebuilding a door casing that a dog chewed up and destroyed. The plan is to cut out the bad section and patch in another piece of the same thickness and cut it to match the cutout. That'll be a fun task.

 

A caution on the door casing project: The opening and closing of the door places changing stresses on the door-frame, especially on the hinge side. The result is sometimes a small bit of motion of that frame, which may lead to appearance issues after a while.

What's your plan for the dog?

 

I've cut away the chewed up part and am planning on inserting a new piece of wood. Will have to shim it to match the existing part. I may chamfer the edge so I can put some wood filler in there and then sand it so that when painted you won't see the seam.

As for the dog - it was an older dog years ago that did the damage. My client just hasn't known how to fix it and hasn't bothered to ask for help before. I've built two closets for her, two custom fit bathroom cabinets, removed an ill installed storm door and rebuilt the frame to hold and support a new door. Replaced all the locks in her house with those programmable locks so she can change the key anytime she likes. Installed a new door in a bedroom, did the bathroom fan, Friday I'll be installing a new range hood exhaust fan. If she picks out a bathroom light fixture I'll be hanging that as well. Her garage door safety beams (30 years old) (maybe) had become unreliable so I replaced them as well. Built a loft ladder that she loves. Replaced several funky light switches and installed some new duplex outlets. So, yeah, she's kept me busy. Her NEXT project is going to be replacing the chandelier over the dining table. High ceiling. So her husband is going to bring home an extra tall ladder so I can get up there and remake the connections.

Her husband works a ton of hours. I don't see the benefit in that other than spending your life earning money that you don't have time to spend or enjoy. But their retirement is coming up in another six years, so they should be well set for the future. Provided nobody takes that away.

 

This is the damage the dog did. Didn't like being locked in the garage and was very insistent on not being there, alone in the cold concrete garage. I feel for the dog but the dog is long gone.
