Hello everyone! I'm starting off another one of my silly little projects in an attempt to teach myself something in the process. I was thinking of creating a battery backup to supply 5vdc to a micro controller if there was ever a power outage. My goals here are to keep my battery in good condition over a moderate amount of time (I don't want to be constantly overcharging it and damaging the battery) and also to prevent any sort of power interruption when switching from the main source to the battery so my micro controller doesn't reboot. I have a couple of ideas perhaps including capacitors and inductors on a higher voltage level going through a voltage regulator in order to maintain constant output during the switch. I'm not an expert when it comes to this stuff so any input is welcome.
