Hello. I'm a new guy here. Thanks in advance for those who could help me.
My groupmates and I are having a design project which has the title "A Design to produce digital copy of electrocardiogram thermal printout"
The plan is, to design a way to retrieve drawn out results from a thermal paper, specifically the ECG results, then turn it into a digital data, or at most, a signal that could be processed (pretty much like from track recordings like audacity, garageband)
certain things should be considered like:
1.) detection of grid (measurement of the wave itself)
2.) Detection of plot

we plan to use a hand scanner, or scanner to scan in the results

the design is described basically this way:

What algorithm could we do to retrieve the scanned results and plot out a signal
