Hi all,
I need some help in voltage to frequency converter. ie, the input to the system is a varying voltage between 0 to 10 volts and the there should be a corresponding variation in the frequency of the output waveform.

Can anyone briefly explain the priciple of this converter? Also it'd help a lot if you provide a schematic of the same...

How do you make a V to F with LM2907?
Silverscorpion, I'm assuming you did a search. I find it hard to believe the information you want is not readily available.
EDIT: The LM331 datasheet includes the theory of how it works.

 

Hi, I would recomend IC 4518. Years ago, I made a frequency-voltage converters (for my tester) it work fine, also can make voltage/frequency.

The only 4518 I can find is a dual BCD counter, which isn't even close to what the OP wants. Do you have a more specific IC number?

You could also use an LM555 timer. Download National Semiconductor's datasheet for that IC. Look on page 9 at the "Pulse Position Modulator" diagram and output. In this circuit, the frequency output would be inversely porportional to the +Vin.
