I am doing a project in which I am using a current sense resistor for which I need to implement a heat sink like WMHPHS-25A, but I need to somehow measure the temperature of that heatsink and component (a requirement made by a teacher even though I don't think it's needed). I tried with an LM335 and a Ring terminal to mount them to the heatsink hole but the heat transfer of the ring is too low. Can you recommend a method that might work in my application and is not very expensive, because I ran out of ideas?

We can use one but we will go over our budget so we try to make it simple

Solder the ground lead of an LM35 to fin on the TO-220 package mounted below the probe-point on the heatsink. Easy to test.
