So that rules out a LOT of techniques. You can't rely on signal strength at all since that is going to vary due to all kinds of things even if the objects remain stationary. And if you need to tell the difference between something being 2 meters away and, say, 2.1 meters away, then you have a much more challenging task.
it need not to be so accurate but within reason...lets say the they within 2 meters no beeping but more than 2 or even 3 beeping starts

I think dinoda has painted himself into a corner. Just because you can imagine it doesn't make it feasible. The way this is going, you will need a GPS receiver on each object and as far as I can tell, even those are only accurate to 1.34 inches. How much money are you willing to pay for this?
accuracy is not the issue but it should conceptually and within reason

That's not of any value when actually trying to help you make a real world device.
"Close?...as in playing horse shoes or thermonuclear weapons?" ;)

If all the gizmos can be in a single plane, it might not be too difficult for (somebody with some skills in optics) to make IR transceivers with limited fields of view, like 360° around the gizmos plus anything below some ray at X° vertically. With that arrangement, only gizmosbeyond a prescribed distance can see each other. The converse would also work.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzd.gif

can i explain again.....there are two objects near to each other (may not be in same plane) if they go aprt beyond 2 meters a beep should go off in one of the object ...now beeping doesnt have to start at exactly at 2 meters everytime it can vary from 2 meters to 3 meters. the objets could be lying anywhere ..like one on table one under the table or thre might be books between them....can somebody draw the circuit to help me...

Draw the circuit for what? You haven't figured out a solution or even decided upon a technology.

MOD NOTE: This is pretty clearly some kind of assigned project, so it has been moved to Homework Help (from General Electronics Chat).

Given the common nature of many recent threads, one might conclude that we are getting close to the end of the semester....
