I try to light it by connecting it to a 9v battery, but it won’t light, why?

 

Did you use a current limiting series resistor? Say around 700 ohms?

No clue what you're trying to do, so there can be no answer.

 

The push button will probably still work as a switch but the LED will not light as you have destroyed it.
If you connected the LED with the correct polarity and no current limiting resistor you will have exceeded the forward current rating. If you connected it with the wrong polarity you will have exceeded the reverse voltage rating.
