i cant seem to get my TRIAC circuit in Multisim to operate

it seems as tho it is not even triggering even when i connect a direct supply to the Gate

can anyone c wat i am doin wrong in the attached drawing

 

hi

base on the datasheet of your triac what's the gate trigger current. with your circuit you have about 17v supply and a current limiter resistor of 220ohms w/c will give you about 77ma of gate current. that current is way beyond the capability of your triac. the gate voltage for those kind of triac is usually 0.8v.

in a real circuit you have already busted your device.

have you not check the datasheet of the device you are using? even if you use simulations you still have to use the specs of the device
