Motor Speed Controllers - What do I do with these?

Hi, Folks.

I'm going through a cabinet full of junk I inherited, and I've found a couple of old motor speed controllers.

One is an HP unit that has no model number info whatsoever.

The other is an ElectroCraft E550-MNO.

Tough to Google the model-number-free HP unit. I get a lot more about fancy Mercedes cars than motor drivers when I search for the E550.

Can anyone give me a little background on what these things do, what kind of motors they drive, and how to connect to them?
Thanks!

You may have to open them up and see the technology used, If they have rpm indication that implies feedback of some kind.
Electrocraft of that age were usually DC brushed motor controllers.
I noticed I answered a question on these 10yrs ago for someone using it to control a DC motor with tach.
Max.
