One guy said that increasing the voltage and the MFD of the capacitance on a motor is a worthwhile upgrade. Would that be a true or false statement? The statement was posted in regard to fixing a compressor motor with a bad start or run capacitor.

There is usually an optimum value calculated based on the start or start-run winding inductance.
If the motor is starting OK, it may not be worth playing with the value.

Increasing the cap size will no doubt increase the current, but is that wise?
That could well shorten the motor life.
A small change may nor hurt as the caps are probably +- 10% anyway, but a large increase may not be worth the risk.
