Mosfet Switched Power Input

I am designing a circuit for the RV industry (picked Automotive, closest thing). I want a zero current circuit until a push button is pressed. There is a latching circuit to keep the circuit alive for a short time after pressing the button.

I will be going into the source of an Enhancement Mosfet with RV Battery. Any concerns in the automotive environment for protection of the source and input of the mosfet? I will have reverse battery diode, simple input capacitive filter etc. Looking at putting a TVS on the input as well. Looking for lessons learned from others as to the best method to protect the mosfet. The circuit itself is very low current (less than 2mA active).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply wayneh. Interesting reading but I am aware of load dump, the ISO pulses etc. The problems I fully understand, it is the solution ideas I am looking for.

My concern is the solutions to such. What protection have others used successfully, and un-successfully? I believe I have a design that might pass the test pulses, but was looking for insight prior to committing this design to first pass testing. Someone that has passed testing for ISO7637, ISO 10605 etc for instance. What method did they use to protect the mosfet?
