My microcontroller can only output 2 mA.
I simulated the 4N26 as shown in the diagram attached. I got the input current to be around 1.5 mA (using the 2500 ohm resistor). In order for the collector voltage to go low (around 0.3 V) I have to limit the ICE current to around 1.5 mA through the 8 kohm.
As I decrease the 8 kohm (thinking it will allow more ICE current), I start seeing the collector voltage rise).
I need an optocoupler to isolate the microcontroller circuit. Either way I get a very low current as the input for some mosfet driver.
