Always remember, moderators are people too. And we are volunteers. Most of us have background where we are knowledgeable about electronics. But nobody's knowledge is perfect. I was a factory tech on a floor for over 40 years. I frequently asked questions to filling gaps on my knowledge base.

 

You can't put moderators on your ignore list. Put your mouse on a member's avatar and you'll see an option to ignore. That isn't available for moderators.

That appears to be the case. Sometimes logic and reason fail us.

I think Mods should regularly ridicule answers, typos, misunderstandings posted by long-time members as a non-monetary therapeutic form of compensation.

Edit: do not not limit to long-time members.

 

The theory I have about forum moderators is basically the same theory I have about cops. The pay isn't great (in the case of mods, $0) so those who sign up do so for a specific reason, and they fall into two basic groups; those with a calling to serve and protect, and those who crave domination over their fellow man. Unfortunately the latter group is almost always the larger one. But AAC is the exception to the rule and that's why I love this forum.

Treat others exactly like You would like to be treated by others.
Some people just can't wrap their head around this simple concept.

That thumbrule doesn't always work for me. For example I prefer to be called out when I'm wrong so that I can recalibrate and become right. Other people don't seem to like that.

 

Some get invited to serve and turn it down in favor of someone more suited to the role.

 

I dont know if its the same forum or MOD but one of the other forums i'm on there is one guy who I actually believe thinks he knows everything about everything. Don't get me wrong, he is very sharp guy and I'm sure he had a hell of a resume but he's just a little to smug for me. Tries to fit EVERYTHING into his own little box. When you comment on things he doesn't know about he either ignores it or will briefly sweep the comment away then go on some tangent trying to compare something from his experiences he thinks is similar but actually has nothing to do with whats being discussed.

 

Just to clear up some apparent confusion among some on this thread, I talked with the TS (LikeTheSandwich) on Monday. He said he was having trouble with a moderator on another forum, not AAC.

The only person I ever met that said, "like the sandwich" was named, Ruben.

But it would have been much funnier if his name was Fluffernutter.

You will fail repeatedly, guaranteed.
Either they appreciate the communication, or they don't.
You can't make anyone happy,
they have to do that for themselves,
because all happiness comes from within,
just like all upset comes from within.

A person who makes too many mistakes, (in their own estimation),
will react badly towards anything, or anyone, that points-out that fact.
Unless you've been studying how people work for decades,
You can't help them with this problem.

You sound like a father who has dealt with teenage boys. A dad does what he can and crosses his fingers that they listen but, if they don't, ya can only do so much. You still need a good night's sleep. I never waited up for them. Like me, they ultimately turned out ok.

From the very little I know about you, PPB, I've witnessed more than once that you don't take s**t from anybody.

If your son learnt that trait from you, then I'm not surprised he turned out to be more than just fine.

Sounds like you met me! In high school and college I almost always introduced myself as, "I'm Reuben, like the sandwich." (And the subtle point was that I spelled it "Reuben" the way the "Reuben sandwich" is spelled, not "Ruben," "Rubin," or any other spellings.). Never heard of a Fluffernutter sandwich though.
