Why does microwave A takes 5 mins to pop and is burnt with only 25% popped whereas oven B takes 2 mins not burnt and 99% popped?

Both have working turntables. I thought it might be a weaker magnetron but they both boil 1cu of water in ~ 2.5 mins

Also, Oven A is 30-40% larger and 10 years older than B.

... Oven A may have a 'metal wave guide stirring fan' which has malfunctioned for some reason. The distribution of the microwave radiation in the cooking space would not be uniform, if this is the case.

Depends on the microwave oven used. Some have a Popcorn setting and a humidity sensor and some don't Some have a Hi setting of 800 watts, some 1,000 watts and some 1,200 so for a fixed time , say 2 min. they are not all going to give the same result. Many of the new Panasonic models actually PWM the power levels rather than just turn On/Off the power. Normally when the popping slows down to a few seconds between single pops it's done.
