My old laptop had gotten so slow I could take a side-trip to the porcelain throne while a new webpage loaded, so I got a new Dell 17" laptop with 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
Now most webpages come up in a couple seconds.

BTW, my family in Nashville just got phone service restored a couple of days ago. Most of the Nashville metro area was without landline phone service for a week.

The bomb took out an AT&T (major phone provider) substation. Hence, all phone service, landline and cellular, was disrupted.

 

As an aside... Christmas Eve day my local ISP went wonky and died completely early Christmas Day. The local FB idiots were attributing it to Nashville which is ~600 miles away. Their router died and apparently no redundancy, disaster plan, or system manager that knows what he is supposed to be doing. They had to send someone by car to S. Florida to get a replacement. My relatives in N. Alabama and E. Tennessee were affected for several days though.

 

Why don't you bring the laptop to the throne?

I bought myself a kit for a class-A headphone amplifier (aliexpress), and a T12 soldering iron which has the controller built into the handle, plus a tinier T12 tip than the two I already have (banggood). I'd about made my mind up to get a T12 iron with a simple analog controller built-in, but this had nearly all the features of the STC T12 LED soldering station controllers. The price seemed too good to be true, but I guess there are savings from putting everything on one circuit board, and eliminating the cable and connectors (plus, it didn't include a T12 tip). It should run nicely from a 3S 18650 pack for portable use, or from a power brick of 15V to 24V.
The headphone amp will need some care in assembly (due to board errors, possible fake components), but there's a lengthy thread about it on diyaudio.
