Hi!

I’m required to do a lot of crimping and are looking for a good crimping machine to help me out.

Mainly will be crimping jst ph2.0 connectors and Mate n Lok universal pins (0.75-1.5mm2).

What’s good to know when searching for a machine (not manual hand tool)?

The official tools for mate n lok is about $800 which is insane, are there any alternative tools heads to use and where do I start to learn about different tool heads to begin with?

Any info to get started would be great or suggestions on a good all around machine would be even better!

thanks in advance

Welcome to AAC.

Wouldn't want you to think nobody cares about your inquiry. You ARE asking about a very very specific thing and odds are not on your side that you'll find a good answer here.

I, too, have done a fair amount of crimping. Off hand I don't recognize the connectors you're talking about. If you could provide a link to what you're working with, you might increase the odds of an answer you can use. Also, if you've already done some research sharing what you've found so far may be beneficial to finding something you can consider.

Yours is a good question. I've often wondered about crimping machines too, though I've never been in a position to make recommendations to my employers. I've also trained quite a few assembly technicians on proper crimping technique. While a machine would make things go faster, some people just don't have the wherewithal to produce good crimps. Now I'm not trying to pick on anyone but this one woman managed to get the job and convince her employer that she could handle the job. Meanwhile all day long she'd listen to her Christian radio stations. Again, not picking on or poking at anyone's faith, but this woman could NOT produce good crimps. Though many have tried to train her - none were successful. I'm convinced not even Jesus could have taught that woman how to crimp properly. Can you imagine how much of a mess she could make with a machine? Just remember, when you make things idiot proof - someone's going to invent a better idiot. And no, I'm not calling her an idiot, just saying that even things designed to prevent problems can sometimes create problems. Just look at the Boeing 737 MAX; which I just rode on one a week and a half ago. That system designed to prevent stalling was considered to be the main culprit. I haven't followed the investigation so I don't know what the final outcome was. So if I'm wrong about it just remember "Better can make things Worse".
