During my convalescence in this nursing home I have been doing a review of old circuits that I remember from being a new tech in college this circuit I came up with while I was still in high school to explain flip flops for my to myself:

Again this is just me playing around and practicing my drawing skills with nothing else to do.

As I understand the reason for using the Master-Slave construct (a term which some find offensive), it was to avoid problems with metastability where violations of setup time and hold time requirements could lead to uncontrolled behavior. I can't verify at the moment if your drawing represents a correct implementation. I also seem to remember the use of a 3-Input Gate.

Basically that would be to allow for the implementation of a reset. Like I said I'm just playing.
