Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am making a clock with my son (10 y old), easy task, plenty of schematics online.

What I would like to add is some running LED's (10 for example) so that between seconds, each LED would light up from first to last and last signal would change the second's display.

I know it can be designed with counters, logic gates, but I have limited space on my board and I'm trying to limit power consumption. Clock input does not have to be 1Hz.

Any suggestions.

If the clock timebase is 50 or 60 Hz powerline, there is a 10 Hz point in the divide chain. Driving a CD4017 with this will give a nice chase display perfectly timed to the seconds changes.

Or, use the 1 Hz point to start/reset an analog ramp driving an LM3914.
