Looking for advice re:sourcing a person/company to make a prototype

Hi,
I am medical and not anyway technological (!) - this forum fascinates me as I really am ignorant of all the phrases and language used!
However, I am a student and trying to find a person or company (whether this is a technology student etc) to make a prototype for me. I wish it to involve 12 LED light bulbs; lighting every 10 seconds for a total of two minutes!

Sounds simple to some, but my mind is shot reading through previous posts and suggestions of how to accomplish this.
Apologies if this is the wrong forum but I noted title 'Projects' and thought I will ask and maybe get pointed in a direction!

Regards

Welcome to AAC!

Simple enough. However, you need to provide some data on the LED light bulbs.
Can you post a link the the LEDs?
How do you propose to power these LEDs?

Your ref. does not give much inf. on LEDs; as shown the bulbs might be high V, unknown wattage & basing. What are LEDs to be mounted on ?
I've done projects for posters on AAC but am shipping only to US addresses.

Hello,

Looking at the adapter on the pictures of the given page, it is a 12 Volts adapter:

The page also states a power of 1.5 to 2.5 Watts.
When you want to power it with AA batteries, you will need 8 batteries in series.
You will have a rather short run time on the batteries.

Thanks for your input-
LEDs ideally mounted on plastic (bordering) . I have contacts in the US so posting within the US wouldn’t be a problem-
Can we give out emails on this or not?

Bertus,
Thanks for your reply- 8 batteries is a hell of a lot . Would there be an alternative to power as it would be a mobile unit as such.

Thank you - yes I did see that but it’s 14 lights....the set up (mirror with border is perfect) however, my project requires 12 light each lighting up every 10 sec to make the required two minutes.

It’s for a medical research project- that why so specific.
I’m trying to get my head around how to set one/make one or outsource it.

Hello,

One could try to pry-out the switch on the side of the mirror:

Switch on Mirror eBay.png

Or you could make a double sided piece of PCB , the size of the diameter of the battery, to interupt the power.
On this piece of PCB you could connect the switch for the timer.

Life with 2 alk. AA batteries might be around 15 to 20 hours continuous on time. If device is to be used much I would use rechargeable Ni-MH AAs.
If on times is 10 sec. what is off time ?

Bernard,

Thank you for your reply.

Each light is to switch on every 10 seconds so that all 12 are fully lit by the two minutes.
Once the two minutes is reached I.e. all 12 are on then the whole unit can be switched off.

(It’s to be a visual/educational tool)

Bernard,

I would be interested to chat to you further regarding possibility of a prototype, shipping within the US isn't a problem.
As I am quickly realising that I am out of my depth reading the LED threads and forums!
My email is <snip>

Thanks Les, I looked for a messaging system but didn't see one, thanks to the Moderator for removing.
Much obliged.

To send a message to Bernard go to one of his posts (Post #13) click on the word Bernard (or the picture above it) on the left hand side. This will bring up a box on the screen. Click on the words "start a conversation" I think is fairly clear from there.

Yes have done all the above yet don’t get an option for ‘start a conversation’ hence the email attempt! Not to worry, thanks
