I use a 20X Nikon Field microscope at work to inspect wear on abrasive diamond beads.
The work is done outdoor, in several spots, so the portable nature of the microscope is great. The only problem is that I need it to take pictures. I have held my camera to the lens and that "works" but it's incredibly clumsy controlling 3 objects at once. I need a new microscope that takes pictures to a card.
I have searched (not exhaustively, yet) and found some USB scopes that also accept an SD card, but they seemed like low quality Chinese crap. I have found some higher quality ones too, but they seem tied to a computer by a USB cable.
I need decent quality, battery powered with light, 20X+, pictures to a card, portable microscope. Waterproof or splashproof would be a huge plus, as would a "ruggedized" model. The objects I'll be looking at are 12x6mm, and I do not need to see them on a molecular level.
Any pointers will be appreciated.
