I was wondering if anyone knows of any off-the-shelf switch modules that switch on if it detects a 12V input voltage and then automatically switch off after 5 minutes or so. This is to turn on/off some LED lighting. I can make one with a 555 timer but I was wondering if there was anything already readily available out there.

5 minutes is a loooong time for an R-C timer like the 555; maybe for the CMOS version, but even then it's a stretch. An alternative is the CD4060 oscillator/counter. With this part, the R and C timing components are 8000 times smaller for the same period. This is important for stable capacitor performance.

OR -

ebay has dozens of different timer modules. Some are programmable and only $10. More basic ones are much less.

As far as an "off the shelf" solution check this timer.
I have one of these and it appears to be well constructed.
